Instructions: Step by Step

Step 1: Download, Print & Cut the Pattern

Print the free PDF pattern and cut out all pieces. You'll use these templates for the main wallet, lining, snap tab, and keychain loop.

Step 2: Cut Your Fabric

  • Using the main wallet template, cut 1 piece of cotton fabric and 1 lining piece (both on the fold).
  • Cut 1 piece of light-weight interfacing on the fold and iron it onto the top center of your main fabric.

Step 3: Sew the Main Wallet

Place the main fabric and lining right sides together. Leave an opening at the top (the size of the snap tab, marked on the template). Sew around the edges. This forms the main wallet piece.

Step 4: Make the Snap Closure Tab

  • Cut 1 piece of contrasting fabric on the fold for the snap tab.
  • Fold right sides together and sew down the sides.
  • Turn right side out and press flat.

Insert the unfinished edge of the snap tab into the opening at the top of the main wallet. Use the template lines to position it. Sew across the edge to attach the tab and close the opening. Sew a straight line across the bottom edge of the wallet for extra strength.

Step 5: Create the Keychain Loop

  • Cut a small strip of fabric using the keychain loop template.
  • Fold in half lengthwise and press. Open, then fold both edges to the center and press again. Fold in half once more to enclose raw edges.
  • Sew two straight lines down the loop for support.

Step 6: Assemble the Wallet

  • Fold the main wallet in half.
  • Place the keychain loop between the folded edge on the side and clip in place.
  • Sew along the sides and bottom, leaving the top open for your cards.

Step 7: Add the Snaps

Using the circular guides on the template, attach plastic snaps to the tab and front side of the wallet with the plier tool.

Step 8: Finish & Attach Keyring

Clip your keychain ring onto the loop. Your card wallet is complete!
